Applying Paint Protection Film (PPF) to your 2024 Tesla Model 3 Highland is one of the best investments you can make to maintain its pristine appearance and protect it from the elements. But what does the process involve? Here’s a detailed look at what it takes to PPF your Model 3 Highland right from your garage.

1. Understanding PPF

What is PPF? Paint Protection Film is a transparent, thermoplastic urethane film applied to the painted surfaces of a car. It protects the paint from scratches, chips, and environmental damage while maintaining the car’s original shine.

Benefits of PPF: PPF offers several benefits, including superior protection against road debris, self-healing properties for minor scratches, UV resistance to prevent paint fading, and ease of cleaning due to its hydrophobic nature.

2. Choosing the Right PPF

Quality Matters: Not all PPFs are created equal. High-quality films offer better protection, longevity, and clarity. Our kit includes Avery Dennison Supreme Defense film, known for its durability and performance.

Finish Options: PPF comes in different finishes such as gloss and matte (aka stealth or satin). Choose a finish that compliments your Model 3 Highland’s aesthetics and your personal style. We currently only offer a gloss front package, but soon we’ll have full body kits with matte as an option too.

3. Preparing Your Vehicle

Thorough Cleaning: Before applying PPF, your Model 3 must be cleaned and prepped. This involves washing and clay barring  to ensure the surface is free of contaminants. Our course walks you through the preparation process to ensure your ride is ready to be wrapped.

Environment Control: PPF application should be done in a controlled environment, free from dust and dirt to prevent debris from getting trapped under the film. We suggest a clean garage and air controlled environment for best results.

4. Application Process

Cutting the Film: Pre-cut PPF is custom-cut to fit your Model 3 Highland using computer software and precision cutting machines. This ensures a perfect fit and removes the need for cutting on your car. You don’t have to do this process when you purchase our DIY kit. Every panel is ready for you to apply right out of the box – blade-free!

Applying the Film: The film is applied using a wet application method, which allows the installer to position the film correctly before it adheres to the surface. You’ll need slip and tack solutions, as well as quality squeegees to ensure a great install. Not only do we supply the pre-cut film, but we stock your kit with all the tools and solutions you need to install successfully.

5. Post-Application Care

Curing Time: After application, the PPF needs time to cure. This can take up to 48 hours. During this period, it’s important to keep the car clean and avoid washing or exposing it to extreme conditions.

Regular Maintenance: Once cured, PPF requires minimal maintenance. Regular washing with a mild car wash soap and a soft microfiber cloth will keep the film clean. Avoid abrasive cleaners or brushes that could damage the film.

6. Professional vs. DIY Installation

Professional Installation: This is the most convenient option if you’re not a DIYer. You drop it off at a shop and leave it for around 5-7 days while they clean the car and apply the film. It’s typically around $2,000 to $6,000 depending on the area you live in (cost of living differs) and what all you want wrapped. Matte is also more expensive than gloss.

DIY Kits: If you’re confident in your skills or you just want to learn a new skill, DIY kits are a great option. We offer step by step video courses so you can follow along with us to install successfully. You can install in 1-2 days right from your garage, and it’s about 3x cheaper than pro installs.
